“ Spirit always stands still long enough for the photographer It has chosen”
Hi! & Thanks for looking!
Background
Once upon a time, an extensively published underwater photographer, jivago photographic was started toward the end of 2005 as a creative outlet from technical underwater photography.
I aim to continue to develop a creative, vibrant, evocative (& especially moody) approach, informed by fine-art sensibilities. An approach that is not constrained at all, by mainstream fashion or glamour shooting. Influences are eclectic and often literary. They range from the British Romantic movement, Keats, Shelley, Byron and the French symbolists, Verlain and Rimbaud, to Gaelic language and culture. Being film school educated, creative cinema is a key influence, particularly Jean Cocteau and Alain Resnais.
Working with Models
I would like to hear from models with artistic sensibilities and a creative outlook. Creative fine art orientated projects & suggestions, would be welcomed!
Awards & Recognition
To date, I have rarely shot with models, (only 10). From this small number of shoots I have been very happy to see a high ratio of rewards and recognition. A jivago portfolio reached the finals of the worldwide Hasselblad Masters of 2008, from 14000 other entrants and have been showcased a number of times on ONE Model Place. Jivago shots have long sustained as the actual highest rated & still continue to sustain, amongst the highest rated of all images, on the entire portfolio of the NEW NUDE magazine.
Cameras
Most shooting is with Hasselblad cameras which although of 'cutting edge' quality, they were always intended for printing and not the web - which unfortunately is unable to produce anything like the richness of tonality I see in print.
